Build. Expand. Exit.

We help entrepreneurs, founders and their families minimize risk and optimize the sale of their business—potentially one of the greatest liquidity events of their lives and also one of the most complex. Our early-stage planning insight, disciplined analysis of your multifaceted transaction and ongoing participation in the deal may be useful in helping you facilitate a successful exit, but also integrate this major financial decision into your overall wealth strategy.

Planning for it—sooner than later
So many factors come into play when you're considering selling your company—from tax and estate planning issues to family dynamics. Given the complexity of the transition, we've found that the sooner we engage in planning discussions the better. We will not only address the best strategies for helping you manage the proceeds in advance of your exit, we‘ll connect you with resources firm-wide to support your business, long-term wealth preservation and legacy goals.

Accessing Investment Banking relationships
According to UBS Investor Watch research, many business owners never had their businesses formally appraised or established structures to shield sales proceeds. We can help assemble the right presale advisory team, including coordinating with our investment banking team for insight into structuring your transaction, appraisals and valuations. Working together, we'll help ensure you have the appropriate strategy and take the right steps at the right time to make the most of your sale.

Through the UBS Advanced Planning team, we can also provide you with access to additional expertise from specialists in:

  • Merger and acquisition advisory services
  • Cross-border issues
  • Private equity and debt financing
  • Risk management
  • Estate planning
  • Tax management

Clarity and creativity for exceptional families

We don’t simply manage family investments—we connect with and nurture our relationships with entire families. No matter what your generation or life circumstances, we strive to understand the goals you value most, clarify your priorities and concerns and “direct” our advice to provide creative solutions that address them.

Shaping family legacies
Because we understand the dynamics of families and their wealth transfer needs, we can help you build a thoughtful plan for transitioning assets to future generations. We begin our planning process with deep discovery conversations that will fully identify your priorities, goals, concerns and values—all factors that can help prepare the next generation for responsibly carrying on your legacy.

Working with the UBS Family and Philanthropy Advisory team of specialists, we offer the following resources:

  • Designing and facilitating productive family meetings
  • Helping you transform family values into a shared family vision
  • Creating engaging wealth education sessions for the rising generation
  • Promoting a meaningful intergenerational dialogue about what really matters

Building millennial relationships
Whether you’re enjoying the good fortune of inheritance, or achieving significant success from your personal career, we understand having skepticism about market volatility and investing for the future. The past can be a prudent teacher. But to us, that’s all the more reason why long-term planning advice makes sense. Whatever your concerns about financial security, we are insightful collaborators with the experience to help inform your decisions and instill confidence in the choices you make today and down the road.

Opportunity vs. security

You may be running your household or your own company. Building a career or retiring from one. To us, good financial planning advice is invaluable no matter where you are in your life. Our process focuses on you and the priorities, goals, concerns and beliefs that will ultimately impact your financial well-being for years to come. Wealth, though, is not just about security. It's about opportunity. We're here to help you fully embrace those opportunities that can enrich and empower you throughout your lifetime.

Divorcing later in life
As women’s life expectancies increase, the rate of divorce for individuals over age 50 continues to climb. This “graying“ of divorce means that more and more women are finding themselves financially on their own—often for the first time in their lives.

Voices of women who‘ve been there
Many women we work with, although somewhat involved in financial decisions while they were married, regretted not participating more. Age doesn‘t make it any better. In fact, UBS research tells us just the opposite. 61% of millennial women leave financial decisions to their partner compared with only 54% of women from older generations.

The time to become financially involved is today, not when unforeseen events happen. We‘re tough yet compassionate problem-solvers who can stand with you, help you clarify and then plan confidently to help you take charge of your future.
