What We Do:
When people ask us what we do for a living, we tell them we have the best job in the world. Every day we go to work and get to help affluent families put together all the pieces of their wealth management puzzles. Working closely with you and your other trusted advisors, we can provide integrated strategies regarding all aspects of your financial life:
- Tax issues. Understanding your federal and state income tax requirements, short- and long-term capital gains, real estate, AMT, estate and inheritance.
- Investments. Providing a risk-aware, diversified portfolio that may consist of stocks, bonds, cash and alternatives investments.
- Estate and trust planning strategies. Reviewing the proper titling of assets between spouses (with rights of survivorship or tenants in common) as well as joint and single names in a trust.
- Retirement and cash flow analysis. Advising on social security maximization, when to take benefits and required minimum distributions in IRA’s.
- Liability management and structure. Providing essential insights on good debt versus bad debt.
- Insurance reviews. Offering clear direction on insurance needs, including life and long-term care.
As our team fits together the pieces of your financial puzzle, we find that many of our affluent clients lack continuity. They cannot see their complete wealth picture. We help make sure that all their professional advisors are working together to protect their wealth by developing a written, holistic, comprehensive financial plan.
Because so many aspects of your financial life overlap and cross-pollinate, it is especially important that there is unity connecting all the elements of your plan. In that way, all the pieces of your puzzle fit together.

James D. Travis Jr., CFP®
I have spent my entire career in the financial services industry with the last 18 dedicated specifically to wealth management. I began my training with Philadelphia National Bank in the late 1980s, capped by my role as a corporate trader/advisor in Foreign Exchange. When First Union acquired CoreStates, we decided not to relocate to Charlotte, NC and instead I entered Merrill Lynch's training program. I later worked for Smith Barney and, finally, Wells Fargo Advisors before joining UBS in 2011. The combination of my background and the global resources of the world's largest weath management firm allows me to provide my clients advice beyond investing.
Through our team of specialists, we can explore every opportunity and feel comfortable with complexity via access to the best thinking. Whether it's investments, income strategies, estate preservation, lending or small business retirement plans, we can critically weigh the possibilities and develop creative solutions. I do not believe in one-size-fits-all or cookie cutter approaches. Standardization may make MY life easier, but my client relationships are built upon making THEIR lives easier.
I graduated from Dickinson College with a degree in Policy & Management Studies/Economics, later earned a M.B.A. in Finance from Temple University, and have been a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ since 2005. I hold Series 7, 31, 63 and 65 securities licenses, as well as life, health and long term care insurance licenses.
My wife, son and I live in Moorestown, NJ and are active in both athletic and non-profit activities. I am a former coach and board member for youth football, as well the former Federation Chief of the YMCA Indian Guides. We are supporters of Twin Oaks and The Tender, and I have recently joined the board of First Book's Philadelphia Chapter. We also enjoy watching our son play high school football and lacrosse.
