Gary earned the exclusive Certified Investment Management Analyst (CIMA) designation 24 years ago, under the joint auspices of the Wharton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania, and Investments and Wealth Institute (IWI, formerly IMCA). One of the first advisors to earn this designation in the State of Nevada, Gary is also one of a select group earning the Portfolio Manager certification with UBS. Dedication to the most current processes and methodologies in the financial industry is paramount to providing the best advice and solutions for Gary's clients. In this ongoing pursuit, Gary continues to work with the IWI along with universities and other higher education institutions, researching and training in key relevant subject matters, to stay on top of the latest research, strategy, technology, and processes regarding the finance and investment industry.

Experience:

Gary has provided customized wealth management solutions to his affluent clientele for over 25 years. Prior to joining UBS Wealth Management 14 years ago, he spent 17 years as a Senior Vice President and portfolio manager at the global wealth management and Investment Banking firm known as Smith Barney (formerly Shearson Lehman Brothers). Ten years of Gary's career were spent in the East Bay region of the San Francisco Bay Area, working alongside industry leaders in wealth management, estate planning, and executive compensation.

Commitment to Giving Back

Gary is a member of the Board of Directors and Finance Committee for Gorilla Doctors, a conservation-focused nonprofit organization dedicated to conserving Africa’s critically-endangered mountain and grauer's gorillas of Rwanda, Uganda, and the DRC, providing life-saving veterinary medicine through University of California - Davis’s renowned Karen C Drayer Wildlife Health Center. In addition, Gary is dedicated to multiple philanthropic efforts focusing on animal welfare, wildlife and environmental conservation, sustainability, and education. Gary's goal of ensuring that future generations have access to a sustainable natural world and wildlife helps drive his ongoing passions and endeavors in these areas. As an extension of this philosophy, Gary works hand in hand with multiple philanthropic and charitable organizations throughout the world. Nature-centered activities are also an important part of Gary's free time, where he enjoys the outdoor world through a variety of activities as an adventurer, rock-climber and back-country skier, as well as organizing philanthropy/conservation based safaris to wild Africa.
