- A native of Cuba, José lives in Boston, MA and Naples and Miami, FL.
- He is an active investor in the Boston and Los Angeles restaurant communities.
- Past board member of the Crescendo Committee of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, Odyssey Health Communications, Teen Empowerment, Excel Academy and other nonprofit organizations.
- He is a founding member of the Writing Academy, a Boston-area charter school.
- He is an active supporter of the Humane Society of Naples and especially the Animal Rescue League of Boston where he is a member of the President’s Council and the Anna Harris Smith Legacy Society. The ARL is the oldest champion of animals in need (since 1899).
